A few years ago I went and purchased a bunch of skincare products. After I purchased these new products I wondered whether I had to use them in a specific order. I developed an order that made sense to me and the products I was using at the time. I have done a little bit of research and this is the key points I found.
Why Sequence Matters
The sequence to which skincare products are applied is important in order to ensure that your skin receives the full benefits of each product. When creating an order itis important to consider how long it takes for your skin to absorb your products.
Recommended Sequence
Exfoliator
Deep cleans
Cleanser
Removes dirt and oil buildup
Toner
Delivers antioxidants, vitamin B derivatives and toning acids to the skin.
Spot Treatment
For best results, allow a minimum of 5 minutes before applying another product.
Serum
When applying multiple serums, apply in the order of consistency, thinnest being first.
Eye Cream
For best results, consistency is key when using eye creams.
Moisturizer
Even if you have oily skin it is still important to moisturize.
Oils
Continue to hydrate the face after applying moisturizer, if required.
SPF
(Morning routine) to protect the skin from UV Rays throughout the day
